#Earthdance

This weekend, 20-21 September, the Cape Town Trance Community welcomes the first official festival of the season: #Earthdance. This music festival has moved venues and will now take place at the good ol’ Nekkies-Resort in Worcester, only an hour drive from the Mother City.  Every year Earthdance holds over 500 events in 80 different countries worldwide and shares a vision between like-minded people to come together and celebrate life through the non-stop doof-doof beating of trance whilst stomping away with flowers in their hair and the earth below their feet.

This trance party is enjoyed by all – newbies are welcome, as long as they show peace, love unity and respect to fellow stompers. This is a good jol for first timers because the Earthdance followers are known to be a great bunch.  This year the legendary festival’s theme is ‘Transformation’ which is being embraced in many ways. Earthdance has reason to boast, with the incredible line-up they have in store for the Cape psy-fanatics: 2 days and 1 night with 3 stages, playing trance, techno or mellow vibes.  The incredible PsyMedia Crew has put together a banger of a set – just under 17 hours long. This SoundCloud playlist features old and new music from internationals Lost & Found, Audioform and  Tristan, as well as locals Prefix, D-Sciple, Chabunk, Silo & Humerous,  Kalahari Kris, Zezia and Disco Volante.

Since its inception in 1997, Earthdance events all over the world simultaneously join together in the Prayer for Peace – a powerful moment of coherent intention. At 1am on Sunday morning all parties link via the “Prayer for Peace” meditation, a song that is played at all events at exactly the same time, connecting all party-goers at every Earthdance in solidarity for Peace. How cool?

This is a trance party so don’t forget to be organised, a sleeping bag and tent is an absolute must or a friend with those items would come in handy! There will be clean ablution facilities and a strong security presence but all valuables need to be locked away at all times. There are many craft and food stores. No glass is allowed, so decantering of beverages is necessary before entry. There will be a fully-stocked cash bar to keep the masses hydrated!

Pre-sale tickets are R320 at selected retail outlets or R330 through Quicket.co.za. Tickets will also be available at the gate at R350 for the full weekend pass or R200 for some Sunday Funday from 8am on Sunday.  50% of profits sold at the door are donated to charities addressing peace, sustainability, and social justice. Earthdance Cape Town has donated close to 1.5 Million Rand over it’s existence, lets join together and show the rest of the world what our community is capable of,

So whether you are a newbie or a regular stomper, checking out #Earthdance 2014 is an absolute must. Grab a couple of friends and take a spontaneous road trip to the beautiful green lands of Worcester for some fun in the sun. Checking out the vibe amongst the Cape Town Trance Community is a must for your #CPTBucketList.
