I have the privilege of co-hosting #TravelChatSA every Wednesday evening from 7pm – 8pm on the Twittersphere where 4 questions are posted every 15 minutes with a bonus question. I was lucky enough to have #CPTBucketList as the topic, enthusiasts all over South Africa took part in the conversation with fantastic suggestions with what they would like to tick off their #CPTBucketList.
#Moonlightmass has made riding bikes in Cape Town cool since 2012. Starting out as a social experiment, creators Daniel Graham and Elad Kirshenbaum had no idea that their initial tweet proposing the idea, would lead to up to a thousand Capetonians gathering at the Green Point Circle every full moon, for a night bike ride through the streets of the Mother City.
One of my favourite places in Cape Town has to be Rhodes Memorial, located on the lower slopes of Devil’s Peak in the Table Mountain National Park. There are spectacular view points which overlook the panoramic vistas of the Mother City. On a clear day, as far as the Helderberg and Hottentots Holland Mountain range can be seen.
We all have fond memories of LEGO® but who says they have to remain in our childhood? Cape Town welcomes The Art of The Brick, world-renowned LEGO® art exhibit which is taking place at the V&A Waterfront from 12 December 2014 until 28 February 2015. LEGO® fans, kids, adults, art-lovers and Cape Town’s creatives can look forward to up to seventy-six 3D art sculptures on display created from more than a million LEGO® bricks.
A Bucket List is defined as a list of things to do before you die which originates from the term “kicked the bucket”
This is going to be the theme for my blog. I want my blog posts to inspire my fellow Capetonians to join me and explore the most beautiful city in the world: Cape Town. There are adventures which lie around every corner whether it be paragliding over our world renowned beaches, going to a music festival or even sitting in a coffee shop on Long Street enjoying our culturally rich and diverse city.
Something that has always confused me a little is when chatting to fellow Capetonians, I have noticed that we all have a yearning desire to travel the world but the question I ask myself is: why travel to the ends of the earth to seek adventure when it lies in our very own back yard? Recently, The New York times voted Cape Town as the Number One Place to Go in 2014 as well as us all being very aware of the fact that Cape Town has been awarded Design Capital of the Year.
I urge everyone to create a Bucket List. This Bucket List will act as a blue print to your goals & dreams. As the months and years tick by, so will the activities on your list. No matter how small or big they may be, put them down – you never know when the opportunity may present itself! I also ask you to share your idea’s with me, I am always up for something new and to learn from your experiences.
We live in a holiday destination, lets explore it!
