5 Steps to inspire your Bucket List

Life seems to be speeding up as the years fly by. There seems to be so many things which we have to do so the things we want to dissolve into a list of daily chores. I see creating a bucket list as focusing your dreams into life goals. It serves as a blue print, free time can be spent on doing activities which really mean something to you rather than time, energy and money being wasted.

First of all, I think that it is important to write down your Bucket List so it can be crossed off as you complete your activities. Having it in writing makes it more real than having it in your head. Make a list at the back off your 2014 diary or even on your memo pad on your cell phone. This allows you to add to your list whenever something crosses your mind. Ticking it off your list as the months tick by – occasionally looking back with a sense of accomplishment.

Second of all, we all were once children with an imagination which ran free. Why can we not have that now? If we had it in us as a child, imagine what our minds are capable now! Daydreaming has become a lost art for adults. It seems a bit silly but we need time to relax and let our thoughts run into a world of possibilities.

Thirdly, brainstorm! Something that high school taught me. It’s a way of creatively expressing your ideas. It also allows you to channel your idea’s into different categories. Why limit your bucket list into one type of activity, that would limit it hugely. My brainstorm has a few categories such as: adventures, events, places to go, charities to volunteer at and even skills to learn. Don’t limit yourself!

My fourth tip would be to find inspiration all around you. Cape Town is my inspiration! What is yours? There are so many things out there which can trigger idea’s for your Bucket List. Whether it may be the people you surround yourself with, the magazines you read or even looking online. There are so many things that you would love to do however they haven’t consciously entered your mind yet. No matter how ridiculous it may be, add it to your list!

Last but not least I have to throw in a cliché tip…have fun Cape Town! That’s the reason for creating this list. Don’t hold yourself so close to it that you are not enjoying it. The chances of you completing your list is unlikely, if it is, dream bigger! There is no tome limit either, the things that you don’t get the opportunity to do  this year, you may be able to do next year. It will be your list, the beauty of that is that it can be done at your pace!
